(^Oh the wonders of setting a shortcut on your keyboard (ctrl+shift+3) to turn it into the French keyboard- it takes time to adjust to but makes accent marks so much easier to type in and is useful for when I have to write essays for French class!)
I’ve been busy with school since I returned from New York for MUN, and therefore I haven’t been keeping up with the challenges as I should have. Sorry Miss W. Because I don’t want to redo all the challenges (2-4) that I’ve missed I decided to do one that caught my eye and that would be challenge 4‘s activity 6: where do you want to go most in the world?
This is a tough question for me; I want to go everywhere possible in the world. But a place that I have been wanting to go to literally forever is Egypt. Ever since I was six and my TV shows were basically limited to the odd Ancient Greek, Roman, or Egyptian specials.I devoured those archaeological and historical specials and more than anything wanted to grow up to be an Egyptologist. Although now my job aspirations have changed (je veux être un diplomat!) I still have a love of Egypt- both ancient and modern. I’ve been pining to go there since I was about six, although I knew that it wasn’t in my mom’s plans for near future vacations. Someday though.
When I go to Egypt I want to visit Cairo, Luxor, Alexandria, and maybe somewhere on the Red Sea.
I wonder, because Egypt is actually considered a francophone country, whether I would be able to speak in French at all? Or only in very certain spots? Or maybe only at universities? Also, are there different dialects of Egyptian Arabic depending on the part of Egypt that you are in? If I spoke Modern Standard Arabic would I be able to understand everyone? (Not saying I do, just saying that I will be fluent in it in the near-ish future!)
I already know a little bit about Egypt. I’m pretty knowledgeable about Ancient Egypt (anything from pyramids to the library of Alexandra to Nefertiti to Cleopatra) and about archaeology. I’d love to visit the Pyramids of Giza, the Valley of the Kings and Queens, and the national Museum in Cairo, go scuba diving in the Red Sea, take a Nile cruise, ride a camel, and simply explore Cairo and Alexandria. Any kind of Ancient Eygptian ruins would be on my itinerary as would interacting and riding camels.
I want to visit Egypt because of its absolutely fascinating history. Also because of how its culture is different from mind and I find Middle Eastern culture interesting. I also really want to go somewhere that speaks Arabic, I’m actually in my school’s Arabic club and I’m currently learning a little! How could a trip to Egypt not be amazing? The country is beautiful (cue a sunset behind the pyramids), culturally interesting (camels, Sahara, and Bedouins, oh my!), historically fascinating, and linguistically wonderful.
Do any other student or teacher bloggers out there on the Edublogs Blogosphere speak Arabic (any kind) or live in Egypt?
Would anyone else absolutely LOVE to go to Eygpt?

Hi Dominique, its Breellen here. Thank you for leaving a comment on my blog Bree’s Brilliant Blog’. I really enjoyed reading your comment and have come to answer your questions.
How do I know Maori? Your first guess is correct, we learn it through school. Most Thursdays, we have a teacher come in and teach us about the Maori language, culture and people. We don’t speak Maori at home as I am from a European background and I’m the only one who can speak it and it is not that well either.
Please keep visiting my blog. The ink is if you have forgotten;
