Il me faut plus temps………

I often find in the fall that I need more time. There are so many things from which to choose:  since I cannot decide which ones to do, I tend to do all of them.   This makes me very busy.  I also have to take homework into account.  When I know I only have a short window of time for homework , I focus on it more. That is one advantage.  Between cross-country running after school until 4:00 , my Beauty and the Beast rehearsal until 5:00, and rehearsing for another play that I am in, Once Upon a Mattress a version of the Princess and the Pea, from 7:00 to 9:00, I do not have much remaining time.  Somehow I always manage to finish my homework. I  will admit that I would like  a little extra time- for relaxing by reading a book or blogging (that would be why my posts have been infrequent lately)but I suppose I will just have to wait until my current schedule settles down. Wait- that would be when basketball starts and when I  am auditioning for another play. I will also have jazz band on Tuesday afternoons, and math team (if I decide to do it) on  Mondays after school. So I suppose I will never stop being busy. Good thing next weekend in the US the clocks are being set back- I’ll gain an extra hour (of sleep)!!!!

Are you busy?

Do you find yourself ever needing/wanting more time?

Wikis sont amusent………

I have heard the term wikis mentioned before on numerous blogs. I never really knew what they were, though, until a couple of weeks ago. In my English Language Arts class my teacher has a wiki and we have a weekly assignment to complete on our individual pages. My teacher checks it every Friday to make sure that her students are actually  reading as assigned (which is not a concern for me, I read a lot). I probably go on my wiki page daily to update the books that I am reading outside of school. Now that wikis are unveiled to me I have realized that they are awesome! Fun and educational……..

Have you ever used a wiki?

Je suis………………..

……………………………Lumiere. Je suis triste parce que je voulais Belle, mais j’irai essayer être bonne à Lumiere.

Life is about disappointments and rising above them. After all no one gets everything that they want. Sometimes you simply just have to make the most of what you are dealt, which I will try to do. My goal is to be the best Lumiere there ever was!

For those who are completely lost about this post, here is the explanation: my middle school is putting on the Disney musical Beauty and the Beast. Today the cast list was posted. I was cast as Lumière . For those who are not familiar with the story or Disney movie, Lumiere is the talking candlestick pictured in the photo below with the talking clock, Cogsworth. Yes, that’s me.

Have you ever participated in any school plays?

Have you ever had a disappointment from which you have recovered?

Have you ever been a candlestick?

Aujourd’hui était “Field Day”!

Today at my middle school the 7th graders had our field day. About a week ago everyone signed up for events in their homeroom. I signed up for only one (unfortunately) the 880 run which is two laps of the track or half of a mile. Today one of my classmates was not here so I also got to participate in the egg toss. Fun!

The morning of field day is filled with kids decorating peoples’ faces with face paint or markers (if there is no more face paint) to show team spirit. My homeroom was called “International Peeps” (don’t ask!). Everyone tried to wear colors of their heritage. I tried to wear the Irish colors but I couldn’t find any gold so I was left with a green t-shirt and white shorts. This morning during homeroom I was commissioned to face paint. I got to face paint the flags of Honduras, Puerto Rico, and Italy. Many of the girls-sorry, nearly all of the girls in my class had face paint-most common stripes under the eyes that are commonly seen on football players.

Field day started out with the field events: shotput, discus, long jump, softball throw….One of my friends (no names for privacy’s sake) got second place in the softball throw! Good job! Then came the track events: 50 yard dash, 100 yard dash, 220 (half of a lap), 440 (one lap) and finally my race, the 880. One of my good friends and I were racing against each other and I was nervous in general. The gun went off and seven girls went flying off. For the first bit my friend and I were in middle to last places. That didn’t last long. The girls in front  of us went off way too fast and found themselves needing to slow down or completely stop not long after. My friend went on to take 1st place and I came in second place!!! I was happy for I am okay short distance, but I am much better at longer distances, which is exactly why I run cross-country. After that came the miscellaneous events: frisbee golf, egg toss, sack shuttle, tire roll, obstacle course… I was lucky enough to do egg toss which a lot of people were watching. My partner and I would throw and catch when the gym teachers said to do so, doing it carefully for if the smallest thing went wrong the egg would splatter. Eggs started splattering and there were only three pairs left (including us). I threw and unfortunately when my partner caught the egg it splattered all over him! We got third place in the egg toss!

The last event to take place was the class versus class tug-of-war game. My class won our first round but faced against a better team we lost, and most of my classmates (including me) toppled over. Well, we tried.

Does your school have a field day?

If so feel free to comment about it.

Je présente mon projet: Mont Fuji

This week in my science class we had to make a Powerpoint project on a geological feature. The Powerpoint had to include appearance, location, two slides on the formation, what types of rocks it is made up of, mineral composition and fun facts. I really enjoyed this project, it was relaxing and fun. I chose Mount Fuji in Japan (my first choice was K2 in Pakistan but a kid in my class was doing Mount Everest and they are both in the Himalayas, so I wasn’t allowed). The slideshow had to be 9 or more slides long and I ended up with 13. There were certain requirements (3 or more pictures, etc…) but they were easy to do. I even put my headings in Japanese for an added effect. My slideshow also has music with it so turn up your speakers! Click on the link below to watch my Mount Fuji presentation. Once it has opened (that might take a while) click on the SLIDE SHOW tab and then click from beginning. Or if you have a different Powerpoint version click on VIEW and then Slideshow. Use your mouse clicking to move the slides along. Enjoy! Please tell me your comments on it.

Have you recently done a fun project in school? If so (and you have a blog) insert it into a post!

Seulement 11 et demi jours jusqu’à la fin de l’école!!!!!

Yes, you read right, only 11 and a half more school days untill the end of school (for me that is)!!!!!! Schools in the northern hemisphere will soon be ending and everybody will be heading off to their summer vacations. I for one am very relieved and excited. I will have a summer full of swimming, reading, and fun. I will hang out with friends and go to an advanced learning and leadership program at a nearby college. Je vais avoir plus fois jouer avec mon chien. J’irai lis beaucoup. J’irai nage surtout. Et theatre? Je ne sais pas. My newest summer activity will be blogging (of course!) my new favorite pastime.

Is your school getting out for any holidays soon?

What do you like to do on summer vacation?
